Steinweg, Braunschweig
A rare concert grand piano by Theodor Steinweg.
Braunschweig, circa 1875. Rosewood, 260 cm (10.5 in).
In the 1860s, Theodor Steinweg searched for a production facility in Europe until he founded the Hamburg Steinway factory in 1880. The acoustic design is the same as that of the Steinway & Sons Centennial, presumably incorporating parts from the New York Steinway factory. The action is a German design.
This grand piano is part of the history of Steinway & Sons.
